Update ...

A FABULOUS charity event raised a whopping £10,000 for a good cause.

The Eileen McCallum Trust – which helps kids with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in Scotland – benefited from a sell-out sportsman’s lunch. Speakers including Celtic legend Frank McAvennie, Father Ted star Michael Redmond and former Grade 1 football referee Bobby Tait entertained an appreciative crowd.

The event was held at The Four Aces in Coatbridge and was hailed a huge success.
Select Blinds owner Derek Hill, who himself has a form of muscular dystrophy, organised the lunch and is planning similar events in the coming year.

Derek wanted to help this particular cause after reading in the Advertiser about brave Coatbridge schoolboy AJ Gilmour’s battle against the condition.

Derek said: “I would like to thank everyone who supported the event.
